Gunpowder Mining "The Purchaser" is a fictitious Company invented to provide a realistic scenario to detail reasons why Principals/Purchasers undertaking turnkey projects in the Australian/South East Asian region specific to the Mining and Resource sector should seriously consider adopting a web based prequalification system to manage their Supplier and Subcontractor base.

The intention of the SQS is that it will allow the Purchaser to electronically analyse new and existing Suppliers and enable them to better manage their commercial risk, relationships and obligation through a dedicated information system. The key to this information system is the timely retrieval of meaningful Supplier/Subcontract data thereby assisting in appropriate decision making processes in respect of Supplier/Subcontract qualification, grading, regrading or awarding of contracts.

The intent of effectively managing Suppliers is to reward the ones that regularly perform by providing them with repeat business based on tangible and auditable results. The SQS allows this transparency to occur where a paper based system may not due to legacy data on prior projects no longer being available.
